OUR PRODUCTS
RAW MATERIALS
PTA
Raw material used in the production of high-performance multi-purpose plastics, including PET and PTT.
It is also used in the production of polyester fibers, polyester coating resins for the manufacture of metal coatings, household appliances, automotive and industrial maintenance.
PIA
Purified isophthalic acid is an organic compound in the form of a colorless powder. It is added in small amounts to purified terephthalic acid in the polymerization of PET, to improve the processability of the product.
PX
P-xylene is a benzene-based aromatic hydrocarbon used on a large scale in the production of terephthalic acid, which in turn is used in the production of polyesters, including polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
MEG
Monoethylene glycol is an organic compound mainly used as a feedstock in the production of polyethylene terephthalate. A small percentage is also used in industrial applications, such as antifreeze formulations and other industrial products. It is an odorless, colorless, syrupy, and sweet-tasting liquid.
PRODUCTS
PET
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), is a thermoplastic polymer of the polyester group and is used in synthetic fibers, beverage containers, food and other materials, thermoformed applications and engineering resins, often in combination with glass fibers. Most of the world’s polyethylene terephthalate production is intended for synthetic fibers (polyester), while about 30% is represented by bottles and packaging (PET). Polyethylene terephthalate represents about 18% of the world’s production of synthetic polymers.
PET is a material with a low environmental impact and can be 100% recycled while maintaining its main properties, and can be reused countless times for the creation of new products.
POLYOLEFINS
Polyolefins is a group of thermoplastics, divided into polyethylene and polypropylene. They can be distinguished by density or by technological properties (M.F.I.).
Many products can be obtained from polyolefins: food containers and capsules, non-food trays and boxes, tubes and sheaths, adhesive tapes, bags, and many others.
HDPE
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is one of the thermoplastics made from ethylene. It has excellent machinability (injection molding, plastic extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming), as well as good chemical resistance and electrical insulation properties.
HDPE has a wide range of applications, such as plastic packaging, plastic films, molded toys, corrosion-resistant pipes, household items, electrical wiring, and many more. An important application is the production of PET mineral water bottle caps. This requires a special quality of HDPE, suitable to ensure the absolute absence of any hydrocarbon flavor. It is an easily recyclable material.
LDPE-LLDPE
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum. It was the first polyethylene to be synthesized in 1933 by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) by means of a high-pressure process with radical polymerization. Its current production uses the same method. LDPE is commonly recycled. Despite competition from newer polymers, LDPE continues to be an important plastic material.
PP
Polypropylene belongs to the polyolefins group and is obtained through the propane polymerization process. Due to their extraordinary durability and hardness, Polypropylene products are used in many sectors and industries. The high chemical resistance to various types of compounds and substances makes Polypropylene neutral for acids, bases and chemically aggressive solvents, therefore with wide and extensive applications. The demand from companies producing non-woven fabrics and big bags for industrial use is particularly high.
RECYCLED
R-PET
Due to the attention and the growing demand for recycled materials in the market, GSI has adapted its organizational structure and completed the commercial offerings with recycled materials, in particular recycled PET in granules and flakes, obtained from chemical or mechanical recycling.
CERTIFICATIONS
Suppliers have been carefully selected in every part of the globe, in order to guarantee quality, consistency of supplies and compliance with the highest standards and certification requirements (EFSA, FDA, GRS, RecyClass, Eucertplast).
APPLICATIONS
The most common applications concern the production of food packaging, preforms and bottling, cosmetics, hygiene and personal care, detergents, the production of fibers and fabrics, and many others.
RECYCLED POLYOLEFINS
There is also an emerging demand for recycled polyolefins for production with low environmental impact, building, construction, automotive and others. Thanks to the experience gained over the years, GSI is able to offer the best dedicated and customized solutions, accompanying customers already in the documentation process and in the approval and validation processes, as well as industrial testing.
